Horticulture/Native Plants

With so many plants to choose from, how can you create a garden that fulfills your expectations? Whether your motivation is to create year-round beauty, welcome wildlife, use resources wisely, or entertain family and friends, this illustrated presentation featuring native plants will offer tips on designing a garden that works for you and that is harmonious with California’s Mediterranean climate.

Carol Bornstein is one of Southern California’s most highly respected native plant specialists. She was Director of Horticulture at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, where she coordinated the design and construction of the garden’s award-winning Home Demonstration Garden, Southern California’s first water-conserving, residential landscape featuring native plants. She also managed the Botanic Garden’s living collections, retail nursery, and plant introduction programs. She is currently Director of the Nature Gardens at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
