“Art is a harmony parallel with nature.” - Paul Cezanne, French Artist (1839 – 1906)

San Diego Botanic Garden has a rich heritage of garden art, both natural and man-made. Our 37-acre urban oasis provides the beautiful natural setting for this year’s Sculpture in the Garden - a collection of 49 works supplied by 31 artists. From June 2017 to April 2018 visitors are invited to engage with these diverse creations set against a unique backdrop of dragon trees, rare fruit gardens, bamboo groves, tranquil ponds, and other natural settings. Art works from top regional, national, and international artists have been mindfully selected by Naomi Nussbaum of Naomi Nussbaum Art & Design, curator of this year’s show. “The quality and diversity of the annual sculpture displays improves each year. The program has grown because artists love having this beautiful setting for their work. Also, with over 40 works on display our visitors have a whole other level of enjoyment from their experience in the Garden,” said Julian Duval, President and CEO of San Diego Botanic Garden. Ranging from the whimsical to the abstract, each piece has been carefully placed to help guests visualize these stunning works of art in their own gardens. All of the sculptures on display in the Garden are for sale, and is part of our fund-raising efforts to keep our beautiful Garden open and accessible to the public 364 days a year. If you are interested in purchasing one of the sculptures, please come to our Administrative Office Monday through Friday from 9 am – 5 pm, and we will be happy to assist you in purchasing your artwork. Thank you for visiting San Diego Botanic Garden and taking a self-guided tour of Sculpture in the Garden.
