“Cultivating Identity: Balboa Park as Cultural Landscape”

Helping to celebrate the centennial of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition are Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, President of the Foundation for Landscape Studies, and Robert Melnick, professor of landscape architecture at the University of Oregon and co-editor of the book Preserving Cultural Landscapes in America. Additional topics include Balboa Park Ranger Kim Duclo speaking on “Archives and Artifacts”; Vonn Marie May on “What Do We Talk About When We Speak of Cultural Landscapes”; and Nancy Carol Carter on “Early Park Planners: Growing Balboa Park”. 10:00 - 3:30 (lunch break noon - 1:30 p.m.) Walking tours at 3:45 - 4:20
